We are planning a circus themed birthday party, for a soon to be 1 year old. I'm making pinwheels
and thought that I would do a quick tutorial on how to make them. I've had several inquiries on the pinwheels,
so I hope that this helps!
You will need:
1 6" x 6" square sheet of paper
1 bamboo stick, chopstick, or pencil
with eraser
1 push pin
1 small bead
Small hole punch
Scissors or exacto knife
Ruler
Marker
Tape
1. Cut your paper into a 6" x 6" square.
I used 2 different papers for one of the pinwheels. I cut the red square. Sprayed 3M Super 77
Multipurpose Adhesive onto the back of the dot paper and adhered the red paper to it. I then
cut the red dot paper.
2. Score a line from corner to corner so that it makes an X. You can, also, draw a line from
corner to corner.
3. Measure 1/2" from the center on each line and mark it with a pencil or marker.
4. Using an exacto knife or scissors, cut from the corner to the 1/2" mark.
5. Punch holes as shown below.
6. This is the only tricky part. Pull each hole punched corner into the center and meet up the holes.
Grab your push pin and stick it through all of the holes.
7. Push the pin through the bamboo stick. If you use a pencil, push it through the eraser and
make sure that you cover the pencil with paper or ribbon.
8. If you want the pinwheel to move, you need to secure the ends down with tape or glue.
9. Put the push pin through the holes. Grab your bead and hold it at the back of the wheel.
Push the pin through the bead and into your stick.
Pinwheels are fun and jazz up any party!!
